I'm considering between these two alarms.  The Autopage claims a 1/2 mile range instead of 1/4 mile range of the Viper.  I used to have the Hornet Responder which was so, so.  I want a good alarm with some good range.  Anyone have any suggestions?

The deal with that is that other companies claim to have better range all that they do is skimp out on the anti-code hopping. I recommend that you go with a DEi product. That are much reliable than others.

the autopage claims to have 120 Bit Random Code Hopping.  It doesn't look have bad either.

quality over price...go with quality...DEI

BTW, the Hornet was NOT a Responder model.... just an entry level 2 way... i  had one before i went to a real Resonder unit...and the range is much better with the actual Responder units

go with either one they are both good forget the dei hype its not worth the extra $$$ cause it wont be warranted if you install it yourself but your autopage will have a warranty and tech help you can actually talk to also you might consider ultrastart 4500 it has at least as much range or more than both and is soooo easy to install
