I'm planning on buying a new 2004 Honda Civic Coupe.  I was just curious as to whether I should buy just a factory alarm system, or save the money there, and buy and aftermarket system?
Will an aftermarket system void the warranty?
What aftermarket systems would you reccommend?
Are there any real benefits to having an LCD key fob?  Or are they just extra bulk in your pocket?

Go with an aftermarket system. The OEM systems are only passive alarms but the aftermarket ones you can get with proximity sensors, tilt sensors, impact sensors, glass breakage, etc.......

The warranty can not be void by installing and alarm system into the vehicle and if they tell you otherwise give them this tid bit of information: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=28642&tpn=1

I recommend Compustar alarm systems or Alpine myself. The LCD remote controls are good if you do not have a paging system availble from the alarm.
