I had my clifford matrix rs 3.5 installed in a 2000 Honda Civic ex coupe that has a manual transmission. When I got my remote start installed for some reason I'm not getting it to learn the tach to actually run. I haven't bypassed the clutch yet but I have been trying to start it by pressing down on the clutch. So If anyone out there has any clues on installing or getting the remote start to work I would greatly appreciate it thanx.

-if youre having a hard time finding the tach wire, then its located right under the mouth of the intake and wrapped next to the split loom right behind the battery.
-tach wire for rs3.5 is violet/white 24 guage.
-to the learn the tach, try wait for it to idle(low speed) then learn it. after engine turn on, press the valet button and the LED will stay solid, thats when you know its successful.

I tried that but it stays on for a sec then keeps flashing. I have the tach wire hooked up because on a honda civic 2000 ex the wiring shows that its a blue color. but there are two different color of blues a light blue and a regular blue. when we accidentally cut the regular blue and turned on the car it just said check engine but the tach was still moving so we thought that wasn't it. so could i have the wrong tach wire?

all new hondas tach wire are blue and it has a no end connector to it. where did you tap the tach wire into?
i used the tach wire near the battery and it works perfectly.

there is a reason DEI says not to install this unit into a manual transmission vehicle.....

i hope it's not my kid standing in front of your car the one time you forget and leave it in gear !!!!!!!!

just commenting on the fact that a RESPONSIBLE, QUALITY install shop would never, NEVER install a RS unit designed for automatics in a manual transmission vehicle.... this is only done by backyard mechanics and cheezy hacks trying to make a buck where they shouldnt....   i was just checking to see if  drewkie was aware of not only the liability issues, but also the obvious safety issues attached to what he is doing...

isnt it our job as professionals to try to educate misinformed consumers???

Yeah I know of the liability issues but i also have a smart alarm installed running with my rs 3.5, it recognizes the manual transmission and won't start if the car is in gear. The smart alarm has sensors run through the gear box so i'm covered there. profuse007 i tapped into the tachwire near the battery. i tapped into a light blue one. another thing is when i press the remote for remote start the responder show's that its not receiving a signal. and kgerry thanx for you concern and bringing up the liability issues.

it should be a blue wire in the test connector on the drivers side fender area right around the shock tower

the responder remote will only communicate back if the vehicle actually starts...when you lock and unlock the doors or arm the alarm does the remote respond? if so, then its probably just your tach issue.  look for the tach wire there and then do tach learning
