hey guys i have been installing a remote start on a 96 grand am gt, i checked the wire data base for my tach wire and when im testing it(with a DMM)i barely get readings, i get stuff in hundreths of volts in ac mode. According to the diagram information it should be the PURPLE / white wire  behind the dash. could you guys tell me what i should look for or how to find what im looking for. when i go to the coil i get readings when i dont dont touch a thing i think its noise from the coil wire so im not sure what im measuring

PURPLE / white or white at the coil should work..... you are metering it in AC aren't you?
