Is it possible to put this system on a manual transmission?  If not, does anyone know of a system that offers the same featurs as the Viper but for a 5spd.

It's possible but not recommended.

Autostart and Compustar make similar units for manual transmission vehicles

Yeah, it's possible but I heard that there are a lot of problems that could occur.  But then I talked to some other people who has it installed and they haven't had any problems so I don't really know.....  Viper 791XV on a manual transmission? -- posted image.

my first choice would be compustar if it goes on my car, IMO. i like the wire layout better than DEI for easier installation.

I have a 790 (same unit essentially, just diff remote) anyways I had no problems on my 6spd manual. The unit comes with an on/off switch, ground it and then leave it off if you know someone other then yourself is going to be using the car (so they dont accidently start it and run it into something). In the entire time I had the car I accidently started it once in gear but was able to stop it before it cranked all the way. (you have a decent amount of time to react).

After reviewing the CompuSTAR.. its seems they are know for their extreme range.  I am really attracted to that. The Viper has a good reputation, but everyone talks about range of the 2WSS-AS, the spread spectrum.

With the Compustar 2WSS-AS what brand proximity senser or microwave sensor as well as glass breakage sensor would you guys recommend?
