I am getting ready to install an Autopage RST2050KE remote start & keyless entry setup on a 2000 Chevy Impala. My question is about the Passlock? will i be able to install resistors on it ( like i did on my 99 GMC Yukon) or is it required to use like the dei part? If so which wires do i need to test?

The 2000 Impala has a Passlock II system installed. You will need to follow these instructions to find the resistance of the passlock code:

<>

1. Remove the top and bottom halves of the steering column shroud.

2. Locate the small three-wire harnesses (with RED / White, ORANGE / Black and Yellow wires) that

come off of the ignition key.

3. Cut the <>Yellow <>wire in half and bare back the <>ORANGE / Black <>wire.

4. Attach the (-) negative side of your meter to the Black wire where it was bared back. Next,

attach the positive (+) side of your meter to the cut yellow peice of wire that runs to the

Ignition Lock Cylinder. Set the meter to read at most 20,000 (20k) ohms of resistance..

5. With the ignition key in and turned to the <>"ON" <>or <>"Run" <>position put the vehicle into

<>

REVERSE<>.

6. Turn the key to the <>"Start" <>position and release it to the <>"Run" <>and measure the resistance

between the key side of the <>Yellow <>wire and the <>ORANGE / Black <>wire.

7. When you have correctly identified the correct resistance obtain a resistance of the same

value.

<>

Note: If you cannot obtain a resistance value, reconnect the Yellow wire and start the

vehicle with the key. Allow the ignition lights to normalize. Shut the vehicle off, separate

the Yellow wire and follow steps 4 – 7 again.

<>

Note that the Yellow

wire for the Passlock is a similar gauge wire to the Starter wire. Don’t confuse these.

<>

You must acquire a resistor value within 5% of the value of the resistor in the key.

Hey,

I have to agree with diabloed, Jeff has pulled me out of some though jams with some alarm installs. It is hard to come by people as nice and with the know how as Jeff and many others here at The 12 Volt.2000 Impala, Autopage RST2050KE -- posted image.
