Hey, I'm working on a 1993 Honda Prelude. I have the alarm and starter all hooked up and everything works but it won't start unless I have the clutch in. Does anyone know how to bypass the clutch. I think I need a relay but have no clue how to hook it up.

Also, I hooked the window roll-up module from my old alarm into it and it isn't working either. I put a 1 amp diode on the starter kill wire i hooked the module into with the stripe on the brain side. Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

The clutch wires for the Honda's are a BLUE/BLACK and are a (-) trigger. Wire in a relay like this:

  • 85: GROUND OUT WHEN RUNNING or Clutch activation wire from remote starter
  • 86: Starter output from Remote Starter
  • 87: Ground
  • 30: Blue/Black wire at the clutch
  • 87a: Not Used

The alarm/starter is a Compustar 2WSS-AS. Could you go into anymore detail about the relay? Sorry if I'm being dumb

What would be the ground out when running?

Also, where do I tap into the starter output?

coming from your compustar, use the thick gauge yellow wire (that's your starter output) to connect to #86, and use the thin gauge RED / black (that's a second starter output rated at 250 mA meant to drive a relay) to connect to #85.
to make it even easier for yourself, you should be able to simply connect that thin gauge RED / black to the clutch's blue/black wire and it should be all good. the relay is a safety precaution to protect the health of your compustar's circuit board, but i'm confident you don't necessarily need to use it.

I had the same problem bypassing the clutch on a 99 civic using a compustar, and what I did was I ran a wire from the purple wire from the main harness of the alarm (which is ground when armed  or remote started) to the blue/black wire on the clutch, then cut that wire and solderd in a diode in place. Simple fix.
