Auto Lock Relays

OK, I'm still trying to understand how this works but if I understand it correctly it locks the doors when the door trigger shows the doors to open and then close, as long as the ignition is not in the ON position.  I think that my Mustang's door trigger is also the dome light trigger.  If this is the case then shouldn't the doors relock after the dome light goes back off already?

Anyone?  I would think that if this is posted in the Car Security section that somebody here would know something about it.
