I have installed a prostart brand remote car starter in my car. However I have never delt with the newer security systems. I have instaled a dozen of these with no problems but need help with the security bypass on this car. It is a 1999 grand am with a 2.4. The remote unit is hooked up and works, however the car shuts down after it starts. I have heard about checking the resistance but have no directions on how to do this. I have also been looking at the 40-60 dollar modulers which do this. Any suggestions. Thanks a lot

Thanks for the help!!

Get yourself a learning bypass module so you don't have to sit down and do the resistor value hunt throught he Passlock wires. *

*- Freezing can affect resistor values and prevent the proper resistor code from being read by the Passlock system, therefore bypass kits which require the use of actual resistors can have problems when attempting to remote start a vehicle that has been sitting idle in freezing conditions. The PASSLOCK 2 DATA INTERFACE KITS ( IPPME ) have a distinct advantage because they communicate directly with the vehicles engine management system and are not as adversely affected by freezing temperatures.
