Hey people,

I am about to do a alarm install and i was hoping some clever people could help me with some queries relating to the wiring diagram supplied with the alarm. Click here http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/stuffthatrock/stuff/diagram.jpg to see the diagram.

There are three question marks that i am confused about.

1. Why would there be two ignition wires of different lengths (one is about 10cm and the other about 2m) ?

2.what is the difference between "IGNITION ON" and "IGNITION POWER" ??

3. Why do I need a wire to the oil light or high tension coil ???

4. Do i only have to use the door swich wire that is applicable to my car? What do I do with the other wire?

Some extra info : install car is a nissan 1990 240 sx alarm is an "equator" (noname) with remote start.

Thanks everyone and sorry for the super long post!!

1. Why would there be two ignition wires of different lengths (one is about 10cm and the other about 2m) ?

  • Most systems that have 2 ignitions wires have one for primary and the other for 2 nd ignition. The diagram doesn't distinguish between the two for some reason.

2.what is the difference between "IGNITION ON" and "IGNITION POWER" ??

  • From looking at the diagram the " IGNITION ON " wire would be yor constant power wire and the IGNITION POWER wire would be your switched ignition ( primary )

3. Why do I need a wire to the oil light or high tension coil ???

  • I have never seen this connection before ? Maybe it's called something else in other models.

4. Do i only have to use the door swich wire that is applicable to my car?

  • Yes, your car uses the BLUE (-) trigger door wire

5.  What do I do with the other wire?

  • No, tape the wire up or disconnect from the harness.
