That seems fair as that would be around 140-150 US I would guess.  That is half of what a couple of these places would charge.  Do you think that it would be a difficult install for a newb?

The installation is not hard, but being a newb is it worth the potential damage to the electrical ignition of the car ? It's only a couple of hundred bucks as opposed to $ 1000+ if you damage a BCM or worse a ECM. If your not comfortable with this installation, then let a pro handle it and if they damage something, they can fix it and pay for the damages.Jeff

That seems high to me, but mabye its just me. I generally charge $140 canadian for units purchased off ebay or some other place besides my store. Now keep in mind that if you are buying it off ebay and its used, and the place puts it in and it doesnt work due to being a faulty unit, then the labor charge is going to be non-refundable.double-secret reverse-osmosis speaker-cone-induced high-level interference distortion, Its a killer

Now how much did you pay for this alarm off of ebay? Now go and ask for a quote from your local shop for the alarm plus install. I'm pretty sure that its very close and that you only save a few bucks . Are those few bucks that you save really worth it? For starter your alarm could be faulty ie missing parts,refurbish ,the labor charge is non-refundable, then you have to get it taken out. And now adays good luck finding the seller + shipping it back +waiting for the alarm to come+additional labor for the install again= ONE BIG HEADACHE. Buying off ebay you run that risk. The only time that i might actually see it as possible to be profitable is if your an installer and your shop carries that brand and it is below your cost ,and if something just happens to be faulty you could swap it out at your shop.Anothor benfit from buying from your local shop is just the pure convience of it if something goes wrong you have warranty with them.Well good luck and hope everything goes well.
