Hey all,

Noob here with an alarm transmitter inquiry.  I'm recently bought a '92 Nissan 240SX and the previous owner didn't realize there was an Omega K-9 FiveT installed in it.  Nice surprise for me when I was detailing the car and found it.  Anyway, there are no remotes for it and I'm having trouble finding ones Omega says it needs.  I do have two old Clifford remotes laying around the house, would they work?  Is a transmitter just a transmitter and doesn't care what alarm it's controlling?  Can you use off-brand remotes to control any alarm?

For reference, the remote model numbers Omega recommends are 116-08 and 104-07.  The FCC ID number on my K-9 FiveT alarm brain is L2MAL51R (which I can't find on Google anywhere).  The Clifford remote (FCC # CZ57RRKR) was for an Intelliguard model.

Any help is greatly appreciated!  I'd like to get this alarm working soon, but I'm in dire need of some transmitter advice.  Feel free to ask any question if you need more info.

Thanks a ton.  Be safe,

Ryan in Las Vegas

No, remotes don't interchange brands. Exception would be DEI brands.

Thanks. So a DEI remote might work then?

If not, I assume I have to match the brain FCC number exactly to get a proper remote?

Would an Omega's remote support multiple Omega alarms (i.e. Crimeguard remote on a Freedom or K-9 unit)?

Thanks again.

No, a dei remote would work on other dei systems not omega. You need to get the remote that omega recommends.
