I want to install a starter interupt on my 2000 Chevy Impala and have no idea on how to do it.  Can some one help?  Also, what would be better: a starter interupt, ignition interupt or a fuel pump interupt?

Thanks for your help,

just to do a starter interrupt you could use a relay and a toggle switch.  Same for the other two.  Most alarms come with a starter kill relay if you were looking for a full security system.  As far as which one is best, I'm a little bit partial to a fuel pump interrupt because it's probably the hardest to defeat if the relay is well hidden; starter and ignition interrupts tend to be more obvious, though they can be concealed well sometimes.  On an Impala you have a nice dash mounted ignition switch which makes it harder to get at the wiring harness anyway, so a starter kill should suffice. If you have any more questions about this, please ask before you start working on your car.

Here's how you could hook up a relay and switch for a starter kill:

Relay -

85-constant fused 12v+

86-one wire from two wire toggle switch

87-not used

87a- key side of cut starter wire

30-motor side of cut starter wire

Switch- one wire to the relay, the other to chassis ground

This might be a stupid question, what type of relay should I use?

No such thing as a stupid question just stupid answers.

Just run to the parts store and pick up a bosch SPDT (single pole double throw) relay
