Hey Guys,

After dicking with my remote start / alarm and stereo system install for 4 days I final got everything working, so I thought. My latest problem was; every time I made an attempt to start the truck via the remote start function, the truck would just crank over and not start. That problem turned out to be 2 swapped wires on the control box (IGN 1 and 2)

Over the past 4 days I managed to drain my battery down and had to give her a jump start. That's because I never actually had the truck running for more than a minute at a time while doing the install. Well, while the truck was running it start to idle serge and finally stalled out. I restarted it and gave it some gas to bring the RPMs up, it stalled again! This was going on for about a half hour. Now, I starting thinking to myself, what could be causing this problem? Tach sense wire intermittently shorting? No, removed it with no improvement. sh*tty wiring job on the alarm system causing PCM to flake out? Nope, disconnected the alarm module completely with no improvement.

Ah! then it dawned on me! The trucks computer learns in repetition; every remote start / stop attempt I made while doing the install (about 25 of them) F'd up the computer! So, I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and turned on the headlight switch to discharge the electrical system, reconnected the battery, started the truck, and BAM! work like a charm! I figured I'd share this just incase any of you come across this problem- I have to admit, it scared the Sh*t out of me, being the truck only has 42 miles on it...If I couldn't figure this out, how would I explain this one to the dealer <LOL>
