hello,

i am in need of some advice. i am installing a remote starter on a 97 taurus gl. i am uncertain as to whether this vehicle has factory disarm. i was told that it does and it is the pink/white wire. i found a pink/white wire below the fuse box. can somebody tell me how to test for this.

i am also trying to install the remote door locks function on the remote starter.  i was told that this vehicle has a type B door power locking system.  How does one test for the unlock and lock wires.

p.s. i was told that the pink / YELLOW is the door lock wire, and the pink/lt green is the door unlock wire. I have found them in the same bundle as the factory disarm wire.  does this seem right? how can one test for these lock/unlock wires?

thank you, much appreciative

tom

Tom-  the disarm wire should go to ground when you unlock the door  with the key in the doorlock. I don't remember having to disarm on those cars.Try it without this wire and see what happens.

The doorlocks are high current, two relays required. The wires are about 12 or 14 guage right? Use the type B diagram on this site and you'll be straight. Get the battery for the relays in that same bundle of wires, a large BLACK/ white stripe. that way you're using the factory power supply and fuse.

Have fun! Steve
