dei 457gw module problem

I have installed a viper 791xv in a 2000 Cadillac STS using the dei 457 gw databus interface module. The door locks work fine as well as the trunk pop. My problem is that the door trigger is not recognized and setting off the alarm. More of a problem is that the pk3 bypass is not working. The car will remote start the first time just after plugging in and programming the 457, but thats is the only time. Never starts the second time. The security light does not stay illuminated , but the dash readout displays "service anti-theft system" a few seconds after remote starting the first time. I've tried using the pink wire harness to interface directly into the PK3 ignition wires, but the directions say this is not neccesary for my vehicle and it doesn't work.  I believe all connections are ok. I hope that i might just be overlooking something minor. Any help would be greatly apperciated.

first make sure that your constant power and ground conections are good.       I have found that you must use the pink wires even on vehicles that say its not needed.       what color wire did you connect to the white blue on the 457 from the 791? 

have you tried swapping out the bypass? It may be a bad unit if it's not learning the resistance closely enough to make the computer happy.Steve G

The 457G is very reliable on that vehicle. My old shop could not get it to work reliably. We tried everything DEI tech support said. We ended up swapping it for a GMDL-BP from bypasskit.com and it worked fine.

Thanks for tips? I want to try to use the pink ignition harness as per vipercon. Do i interface the harness up by the ign switch or down at the pk3 module?  instructions are vague, is the pink comming from the ignition a ignition power wire or is this the PK3 resistance wire.  The pk3 wires in my car are white, yellow, and black. Am i cutting this wire and splicing in the pink ign. harness or do I tap into this wire at the switch and the splice into at the module. This is one of those things where a little clarification can go a long way. I know I'm just trying to think of all possibilities and I'm confusing myself a little. This is my first time with this module. I regularly use 555L's and such and have no problems. Also any help with the door trigger. i have the green from the 457 connected to the green from the 791.  When I open a door i get nothing. I don't want do go through the diode isolation if I don't need to and besides, that's what the module is for. thanks again

Did you connect any wires from the 457G to the positive domelight wire? You need to. I think its a grey/black, but I don't have a 457G with me or a manual. The 457G takes the positive trigger domelight wire and spits out a (-) output that can be used on your alarm/remote start. It will also prevent a (-) signal from going to the alarm brain if it sees a door open immediately after the vehicle shuts off. Many GM's will turn on the domelight after the ignition turns off. The 791XV knows to ignore the false trigger, but some other companies alarms don't have that capability. Personally, I would suggest hooking up a domelight wire directly to the (+) door trigger input on the alarm and not using the 457G for the door trigger. Another thing....some Caddy's won't turn on the domelight during the day when its really bright outside. If your car is like that you will need to run wires to the true door triggers.

JWorm, I'm a GM guy myself, and you're right about the domelight not turning on in the daytime on that car. The individual door triggers are not available inside the car----You'd have to run a wire into each of the four doors to each door module, and then diode isolate them. The GM-DLBP will put out a negative trigger for every door that has a module (all four on the Seville), so with that module, the domelight wire isn't even needed.
