Sorry for the newbie question.

I just got a Viper Model 5000.  I had a thief break into my car prior and I believe i was setup by a valet that knew that I had some costly items in my car.

How do I prevent this...but still use valet serices?   I read that there is a way to "lock down" the programming aspect of my alarm.  Is this my best bet?  I noticed that DEI makes a keypad that you can mount in the car, adn i got the impression it was to replace the valet switch...is this true?

Can I lock down programmign without this?

Also...Is the bitwriter a good option?

My worry is that someone will program a remote to access my car and simply show up and have no resistance.

Thanks for any help.

Set them up. Put your car back in their care again and have a friend drive in and park near it. Vans with tinted windows and people with cameras are best for this. Chances you are not the only person that was hit.

The bitwriter can lock programming for features and for remote programming.
