Hello all.

I own a 1999 Renault Clio Mk2 RN.  When I brought the car the remote locking key was broken and after being quoted between £80 (locksmith) and £160 (Renault) I decided to buy a cheap alarm with a central locking output.

I purchased a Shark Car Alarm 2 from Maplins and now, having installed it, am unsure how to go about wiring in the central locking.

The car has a button on the centre console to lock and unlock the doors and boot.

I'm pretty new to car electrics so I'm not to sure what info I need to give but it would be much appreciated if somebody could steer me in the right direction.

Cheers

Sorry, forgot to mention.

When the alarm is armed a wire becomes a 12v negative (any use with relays?)

you should have 2 neg pulses one for loack and other for unlock.
you can attach them to the wires going to the switch. no need to lift the centre console from the drivers side you can clip you hand under and pull the wires down there is enough wire to come down.. tap in there   not sure of the colours you'll have to test

the ground when armed can be used with relay for window mods or starter kill

Wow, great reply.

The alarm does not have locking output.  It basically has an output which is grounded whenever the alarm is armed.

I think, and bare in mind this is probs wrong, according to my Haynes manual the lock switch has 5 wires.  2 of which are for a light.  The remaining 3 are a ground, a pink/black wire and a grey wire going to the fuses.

ok if you using positive locking you have to wire a relay like so.
85 - ground when armed
86 - 12v constant
30 - 12v constant
87 - to lock wire
87a - to unlock wire
i don't like this set up as its not a pulsed switch its constant
it cost 40 pounds if you've not opened it yet i would return it and get an alarm for similar money. you could buy a scytek precision 200 for about 60 pounds icluding shipping. well worth the extra money.
