I have a Avital 3300 and a 1999 Dodge Neon. Well the alarm is just about complete but Im having problems with learning the tach. Im pretty sure that is the problem b/c it wants to turn over but it just wont. Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight on how i can get the tach to learn. we basically tried everything but it just doesnt want to learn.
thanks
ryan

Here are the two wires that you can use. Which one did you use ?

TACHOMETER------------------tan/blu or blk/gry--------------------top motor 3 pin plug

Try either one and see post your results.

The tach learning mode is very basic on this Avital, did you wait until the car reached a low idle ? There's nothing to this vehicle and the Avital is an easy system. Have you double checked all your igniton wires to make sure that you have the proper ones? Here is a wiring diagram of your vehicle, please double check your connections :

|       ITEM      |     WIRE COLOR     |POL|       WIRE LOCATION        |

|              12V|red & pink/black    |+  |ignition harness *1         |
|          STARTER|yellow              |+  |ignition harness *1         |
|         IGNITION|dk. blue            |+  |ignition harness *1         |
|        ACCESSORY|BLACK/ orange        |+  |ignition harness *1         |
|       POWER LOCK|ORANGE / purple       |5wi|taped harness from driv door|
|     POWER UNLOCK|pink/purple         |5wi|taped harness from driv door|
|       LOCK MOTOR|ORANGE / black        |   |drivers kick                |
|     UNLOCK MOTOR|pnk/wht or pnk/blk  |   |drivers kick                |
|    DISARM DEFEAT|pink/black          |   |passenger kick              |
| PARKING LIGHTS +|BLACK / YELLOW        |   |at headlight switch         |
| PARKING LIGHTS -|                    |   |                            |
|       HEADLIGHTS|lt. green           |+  |at headlight switch         |
|     DOOR TRIGGER|yellow/black        |-  |behind headlight swtch      |
|  TRUNK/HATCH PIN|gray/black          |-  |at light in trunk           |
|       TACHOMETER|tan/blu or blk/gry  |   |top motor 3 pin plug        |
|       BRAKE WIRE|WHITE/ gold dots     |+  |at brake switch             |
|     HORN TRIGGER|BLACK/ red           |-  |steering column             |
|           WIPERS|grn/yel, RED / yel    |+  |steering column *2          |
|  LF WINDOW UP/DN|                    |   |                            |
|  RF WINDOW UP/DN|                    |   |                            |
|  LR WINDOW UP/DN|                    |   |                            |
|  RR WINDOW UP/DN|                    |   |                            |

Notes:

*1 SRS airbag wires are not enclosed in sheath at the steering column. They are a twisted pair run with rest of ignition harness. Be careful not to cut or probe these wires.  *2 Combine with diodes to get all speeds.
