Folks:

Hunted for an open thread re this one, but the closest one I could find https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=55961&KW=avital

was closed. Here goes:

I am a pc technician who occasionally gets paid in beer/dinner/odds & ends for patching up my friends' and neighbours' computers. One of them did the standard case of beer and then offered me an old alarm that he had kicking around his place. Just curious: is this critter actually worth installing or is it too old to worry about?

Alarm is an Avital Cyclone 5210 with remote keyless entry and motion sensor unit. Yes, I actually did get the wiring diagram in the box as well.

Vehicle this would go into is a 1995 Plymouth Neon with standard transmission. No remote starter desired.

All opinions and feedback welcome.

Thanks,

Doobert

That would be better answered by yourself..........

If it works & your time is worth it.........put it in........
The price is right

Thanks - everything looks functional; I doubt this has ever been out of the box.

I was actually thinking in terms of "since I live in a relatively high-auto-crime area, will this be an effective deterrent, or will it be laughed at?"

No worries about the install process or my time; it's just an excuse to get me out of the house and lower my car insurance premiums.

Thanks again,

Doobert
