positive ground woahs

I have a 1965 datsun roadster and the vehicle has a positive ground system. I am getting ready to install an alarm, however I have a few questions. First off I am installing a new hood and trunk pin and I would like to hook them up to the D.E.I. paging remotes that have the lcd, The problem is the dei inputs are (-) and my pins are (+). I know that I could hook them up to the (+) door trigger but then it won't show the trunk and hood being opened on the remote. Another issue is the ign wire from the alarm brain, because my vehicle has a negative ignition wire, how will I get the alarm to reset (maybe I should just hook it up to a toggle switch, but I'd like it to reset manually.) Also Should I be fusing the wires going to my positive ground or the negative wires? I want to keep the positive ground system, its a pain but it's also kind of cool to keep. Any help would be super rad. thanks in advance.

okay, I can do that. But i should use diodes right? and what side should the stripe face. Also I stil need to know what side of the power wire I should fuse when adding acessories.

Hmm, that sounds like an interesting project. I have a few ideas. --Forget the pinswitches, and get mercury switches instead. Rather than counting on the body of the car for electrical contact, the mercury switch has two wires, and you can connect them however you want. Just connect one wire from the mercury switch to fused negative, and the other side to the negative hoodpin input from the alarm. --As swamprat says, use a relay from the negative ignition wire, to make a positive signal to go to the ignition input for the alarm brain. Remember, you musn't configure any relay so that it is allowed to stay on while the car is off, or the battery will go dead if the car is parked for a few days. --For door trigger, the alarm will give you a choice of positive or negative inputs, so it'll be easy to just connect the appropriate one to the car's domelight wire. --For parking lights, the alarm also gives you a choice (using the internal jumper) for positive or negative light flash, but remember that the negative output is low-current........if the car's parking lights are a high-current negative (they probably are), use a relay. --Fusing: Yeah, you should fuse the alarm's "ground" wire, at the point it is connected to the consant-power source at the ignition switch. And remember, you'll have to be extra careful with the rest of the wiring in general............just for example, the black wire going to the valet switch carries a negative at all times.......... On a regular install, let's say the valet switch's wire is routed along a spot of rough metal, chafes through, and shorts out.........well, if it's the black wire that shorts, nothing happens at all........if it's the gray wire that shorts, the alarm "thinks" the valet switch is being pressed in................it is a problem that will have to be repaired, but it is harmless. On the other hand, on your car, if that black wire chafes against something and shorts to body metal, wires are going to melt. So, just take stuff like that into account, and install carefully.
