I need to know which wires on the factory alarm are for the key sensor on the ignition switch. The car was broken into and they messed around with the wires and messed it up. The car will crank but not start with the key. I dont want to take it to a dealer because its not under warranty and they charge too much. Im trying to fix this myself.
2001 Honda Civic 4 door Ex. Thanks.

Is the little green key light on the gauge cluster on when you try to start?  It could be a transponder problem.  If the little green key light goes out when you turn the ignition on, then I would check the ignition wiring.  It's possible there's a blown fuse.  It would most likely be a large fuse under the hood, near the battery.  If the key light stays on or stays flashing, then you've got a transponder issue.

your keysense wire is RED / white and will show a ground when a key is insterted in the ignition.

you might also want to check to see if the transponder ring around the cylinder or the wires running from it are damaged.  They'll most likely be plain black or white and bundled together.

Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.
