All you need is (wires off 556u)
Red- 12v
Black- ground
Blue- Connect this to status output of starter
Does not need keysense
Probably a problem with positioning the antenna ring.

There is a second way to wire into the transponder ring. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me the how that  works.

Try this take the column cover off and test the remote start when you find were it (antenna ring) works good, squirt some hot glue on it to hold it in place while you re-install the column cover.

Before you go to all that trouble, have you first verified that the remote starter is installed correctly, by remote starting the car while the key is in the ignition?
