Hi everyone, my question is this

I am installing a compustar 2way a/s.

I understand the front door locks and rear are on seperate relays and require each to be relayed on their own.

Im using a bypass from Fortin electronics, the GM-SL, the bypass tells me its capable of integrating door locks on the bypass, as well as park lights, trunk. and dome lights, with the negative out of the unit.

Will this work, i used the same bypass on a 2001 Sierra and the door lock out put and park lights dint work for some reason. Has anyone used this bypass on this vehicle?

Also will it do facotory alarm disarm?

Thanks for all the help.

The 2001 and 2005 GM trucks all though very similar changed the BCM. I believe the transition year is 2003. You cannot use the GM-SL for door locks in the 2001, but the truck is very install friendly. The door lock wires are right in the BCM which is under the dash panel with the wires facing out towards you. You can use the GM-SL for bypassing the passlock system but nothing else.

isnt the front door and rear door on seperate circuits, isnt the rear lock circuit located under the rear seat? i dont think its like most GM trucks.

As you did not tell us the specific vehicle you are installing this into...I would be wary of any solution given.

But don't pay too much heed to what I say...I am drunked.

In addition, i have yet to encounter a vehicle in which the front doorlocks are seperated from the rear.

Use a meter to see what the switch does. If the switch controls all the door locks, there is always a way to mimick that,...can you,say mimmick? I think I did.

As my subject says 2005 Envoy.

The reason why i say this is this diagram points the a module under the seat  http://64.85.6.129/extrainfo/diagrams/14301_ENVOY_GM%20SUV%20DOORLOCK%20DIAGRAM.pdf

The front doors are positive trip and the rear and hatch are both negative correct?

The bypass module communicates with the vehicle's data bus, using the module eliminates the need to use the diagram you have listed. The installation manual for the GM-SL can be found here it lists the door trigger output to the aftermarket alarm as a white wire in connector 2.
Hope this clears it up a bit.

Thanks :)   the reason why i was asking was ,i installed the same bypass onto a 2001 GM, and i used all my neg outs from the compustar to the bypass, but nothing ever worked, i had to rewire the doorlocks and park lights using the positive outs to the vehicles actual wires.

Just seeing from anyones experience with this perticular bypass. Otherwise if it cant be done im just double checking the proper procedure to wire in the door locks the long way.

Thanks all :)

Well i have some answers, i called Fortin, and on the GM-SL ver 4.11 there is a bug in it, and it dosnt suppost neg inputs for prk lights, and door locks for any GM with a CKY pick up. The ver 4.09, 4.12, and 4.13 are all fixes and work fine with all GM's This is why the 2001 silverado dint work. But the Envoy is fine with this bypass.

Thanks for all your help guys
