has anyone ever used a ultra starter brand alarm/remote starter???my shop first started using these because they were a good profit making cheap unit to sell..i was wondering iff anyone has had problems with the tach being lost over time and the alarm being way to sensitive as well as many other faults these units have. These things have sent about four cars back in the past 2 weeks all with the same problem loss of remote start do to a programming issue with the alarm. one car came back because of another remote start problem the unit was noit trigering the transponder bypass module there was no ground output on its orange wire so when the unit was switched with a new one it worked>these are sh@t alarms please dont go through the hassle of using these things.

what model are they.  I have a few because I wanted to try them out, and I have only installed one and it works fine, but i dont want to get anymore if a few other people can confirm the same or at least similar sentiments.  I got a few 1250's but it sounds like you have alarms on yours. 

Keep posting if you have any more problems or find out the cause of these problems.

Have installed 15-20 of these starters this season, haven't had any problems with these units.  I find that programming this unit is a bit cumbersome, besides that there're great, quick install time, and easily upgradeable to the 2250. But i have heard from other installers/owners that they've had tach problems.

Hey Guys, I am using the new Lynx systems from my supplier and these are the sh*t !! Great range, easy to install & super easy programming. I installed on eo fthese intot he company vehicle the other day and took out the old Aladdin a-2000 and I love these  !!

i have had no luck with the 2250 alarm remote starter and these things have gave nothing but hassles most of wich the customer would not notice but i did like the fact that the starter kil is programmable and this unit does not hold its programming meaning one daY YOU   HAVE A STARTER KILL ONE Day you dont. also you need to turn your bypass module on with tyhe orange wire when it loses a ground which 2 alarms have,you have no way of remote starting. The shock sen sor has a programing mode which is good for a week or so then needs to be retaught, if the car does not start after 3 tries the brain gets reset and needs to learn a new tach signal,or leave the car in gear to check and make sure it dont start guess what the unit needs to be reset again, it leaves customers with a useless remote start and an annoying alarm always going off,along with a trip back to us and a wasted time fixing it. When i first installed these units i was like wow that is one easy install and some really nice features but over time those nice features and quick easy install became a headache for me. maybe it is only the 2250 but i dought it

Sorry guys, I love the ultra start series.  I've done about 60 of them: 1250's  2250's 4500's and so on.  Had only one problem with a Legend,  but that was due to the car idling erratically.  The brain needs to be mounted to something really solid cause the shock sensor is built in.  The main problem it seems is that the user is not properly trained on the using them.  As far as the orange bypass wire, As far as I know that is a dedicated wire so there shouldn't be any programing for that.  Only if the battery goes dead should you need to worry about anything.  Maybe your customers are failing to give you this info.ultra sh#t remote starters  -- posted image.

The older Ultrastarts lost memory when power was disconnected. Newer ones have non-volatile memory (retain settings even if power is disconnected).
I have seen a bunch of problems with the units. Tach problems with vehicles that have a tach signal less than 2 volts....especially Toyotas. I have also had a lot of antennas break. I've probably done over 200 of them over the past 2 years, so I've learned ways around the little quirks that they have. Easy and fast to install and are very profitable, but too many minor problems.
The shock sensors on the alarm versions suck. The newer versions require you to to hit the vehicle 3 times when programming it which seems to work a lot better than the earlier versions. I suggest using the 2600 over the 2250 on vehicles that have transponders and that need more ignition and acc. wires due to the fact the 2250 only has the 1 orange wire that can be used as either a ground when running or starter kill. The 2600 has a wire for each function, as well as many other wires that come in handy on complicated cars.
