I've been doing my own audio installs for a few years, and I decided I want to tackle my alarm install for this car. That being said, I have a 1993 Honda Civic with manual transmission and I want to add the following:

-Remote Start

-Dual Stage Proximity

-Power Window Control (car already has power windows)

-Digital Tilt

-Trunk Pop

-Glass Breakage Sensor

-Piezo Siren

I was thinking about buying this dvd:

any thoughts?

Lastly, what is a good reliable brand for alarms that would fit my application?

Don't buy from e-bay. amazon. and other unathorized dealer from the interweb. You'll regret it in the long run. There are LOADS of guys out there that will tell you, go for it, mine works fine....BUT! It's up too you if you wish to "invite" the troubles. Another thing to consider, if a dealer sells you over the counter...say a compustar, astrostart, or viper/clifford. THEY will be breaking their dealer agreements. (wich is just wrong)

So I guess maybe you should buy off the interweb. Just make sure you get a unit designed for a manual trans, cause you won't get any help from anyone on the 12volt, in reguards to how to "bypass" your clutch, as it is against forum rules.

I learned how to install remote starters and alarm systems thanks to that very dvd!!

I highly recommend it .. i actually just re-sold it on ebay not too long ago for about $15.00 less than I paid for it. Those guys are awesome video publishers for this genre of work and I again highly recommend that DVD.

The other WEALTH of knowledge I needed to start my remote starter business came and continues to come from this very website. So kudos to this site, i will continue to donate $$ each month

There are a couple of brands that allow self install and will still continue to hold a factory warranty. These are not typically high end like the Compustar or DEI stuff but they do work reliably. I install product people buy off the internet and there are a lot of places I would avoid, but if you happen to find a Scytek piece from what I understand they will warranty to the consumer if self installed and are reasonably priced. The quality is not that of a Viper (limited programming options, aluminum wire, smaller gauge wire etc) but with the 8 - 10 pieces I have installed from that brand, none have come back. Who ever you decide to purchase from, as Kartuneman has already stated, if they sell you a Viper, Python, Compustar, etc. they are voiding the warranty the manufacturer gives the unit as well as breaking their dealer agreement. Make sure that whatever piece you decide to purchase comes with a warranty that will be honored if you install it yourself.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
