05 impala alarm/starter

I am going to be installing an autopage 855 alarm/remote starter in a 05 chevy impala.  I was wondering if anyone has some helpful info that I might be able to use.  I looked at some of the topics in the forum and people talk about diode isolating so that the check engine light wont come on.  Are they talking about putting a diode on each input wire i.e. door trigger, trunk trigger, hood pin?  Also can someone provide me with info on the passlock ll system.  can I bypass it by using relays or is there a module that is well worth buying?  Thanks ......  Mike

--All that stuff about the parking lights and the check-engine light is nonsense. At the parking light switch, you have your choice of light blue (-), or BROWN / white (+). Either will work the lights just fine. --I wouldn't spend the extra time playing with relays and resistors for the Passlock system. If you buy something like the Audiovox AS-GM4, or DEI 555L, it'll re-learn the car's resistance every time you start the car, which also is a little more reliable. --On the car's door trigger, and trunk-trigger wires, the BCM sometimes puts out small ground pulses that may or may not false the alarm. To prevent this, you'd want to cut each of the trigger wires in half, and then put them back together with a diode inline on each. Then, continue with the alarm install as normal, making your connections NOT on the "BCM side" of the diodes you've installed, but rather on the "pinswitch side", so that the alarm cannot "see" anything from the BCM. --There is no factory hoodpin switch. If you want one, you'll have to install it.
