I am purchasing a 2002 Z28 that is equiped with manual door locks and windows. I'd  like to convert to power locks and windows. Is this a plug and play affair as far as the wiring harness is concerned (I heard that the connectors for those accesories is behind the kick panels), or is this type of upgrade (using oem parts of course) major surgory? I don't have access to the vehicle yet. It's out of state and I'm going to pick it up next week.  I was just curious about what kind of job I am in for if I decide to do it.  Any information (parts lists, advice, horror stories, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.  Also, is the 02 z28 drive by wire?

The 02 z28 is NOT drive by wire .. it's a traditional cable-link throttle system

So you'll have to install doorlock actuators, and I've never installed power windows on a car that had manual roll-down windows, so i couldn't comment on that.

But as for the door locks, it's fairly involved and can be pesky as you'll have to take the door panels apart (luckily it's a coupe, so only two doors) and install some hardware and wiring.  It's not plug in play, i guess.

I read a post about installing a cruise control stalk on a v6 00 camaro and voila you have CC.  Is this the case with an 02 Z28?

there's a whole cruise control forum, believe it or not on this site, i'd ask that question there; btw, i think some camaros are drive by wire -- don't know the years.  That would make adding cruise control much easier.

from www.camarosource.com:

Unlike the Corvette, Camaro's with LSI V8 engines never had electronic throttle linkage. However, electronic throttle control was included with V6 coupes and convertibles starting in 1999.

You can get SPAL products for the windows and any actuator with a switch for your door locks.  Just need 2 relays for your locks to work and a good Spal Kit.  Do not get basic Spal kit as I have tested the newer version and worked great(power window roll-up are faster)
