I have an Clifford Matrix 2.5x on a 03 eclipse gts 5 speed. Does anyone know if adding a compustar remote starter at the same time would cause any problems?

Not that I'm aware of.  The only thing that I could imagine would occur is RF interference with two antenna from two different "brains."  however, i doubt this would be a problem.  Your compustar will just tie into igntion/starter wires, a power source, etc and will have nothing to do with the door pins/hatchback pins etc (alarm related wiring) and you'll maintain locking and unlocking with the Clifford keyfobs.

Why not just get the compustar -as (alarm and remote start combo)?

Having a manual transmission remote starter with a seperate alarm on the same vehicle will be very awkward. I recommend removing the Clifford, and installing a combo unit from Compustar. You will be much happier only having to carry around one remote. The install will be much easier as well since you won't have to bypass the ignition input, and shock sensor on the alarm when the car remote starts.
The above post is not exactly correct either, because the Compustar unit will need to be tied into the door trigger wires. Almost every connection made for the alarm will need to be duplicated on the Compustar.

If he just purchases the compustar remote start (only) module -- why would he need to connect it to the door trigger wires?  My last compustar install was a remote starter only, I did not connect it to door pin/trunk pins etc.  Works great.  That was in his first post (compustar remote starter)

If he buys the combo unit, then you're right, he'd have to make those connections.

Did you miss the part about it being a manual transmission car?

Well the clifford alarm cost alot, and i'm pretty happy with it. So i was planning on getting the remote start only, and then deactivate the alarm when i remote start the car, and then reactivate the alarm once it's started.

Don't forget you can sell your old unit on craigslist or something and pick up your compustar. Don't forget to make sure you get the gray remote for tubro timer. Word.

"dont ground out!"

I'm not planning on taking out the old unit. I'm using the clifford for my security system and the compustar for my remote starter.

Can you use the ground-while running wire from the compustar to deactivate the Clifford during the remote start period ... ?  Or, have the unlock->remote start->re-lock feature of the compustar unlock the car (i.e. deactivate the clifford) .. remote start the car .. then lock the car again after successful start (re-activate the alarm).  Then, you come along w/ your clifford keyfob and unlock the car, put your key in and go.
