You need to hook up a power trunk release to the cable pull for the hatch release. You will need to reverse the polarity on the trunk release wire from a (-) to a (+) with the relay.

The AA-RS5CS is the one they sell at Sears, with the boomerang-style remotes, right? I don't think it has a trunk release output.
On the Audiovox stuff, a thin dark blue wire would be trunk release, and a thin light GREEN/ black wire would be an extra "option" channel. These would be in a small two-pin white plug on the side of the brain. If you don't have these, you have no trunk release.
If you can buy a Prestige APS-685 or Pursuit PRO-9175FT4, the main big harnesses at each end will be the same, meaning it will be very simple to upgrade. Either of these two units will have the extra outputs mentioned above, plus much nicer remotes and a long-range antenna.
Also, as Jeff said, you'll need more than just a relay. There are solenoids available just for this purpose; they attach to the cable or latch, and pull on it when activated. It's tricky to get them working just right, but the basic installation concept is simple and easy to understand.
