2005 Ford Taurus. I have a commando alarm RST-560, my trunk release works but I have to hold my trunk release button for about ten seconds. The output for the trunk release is "1 second pulse ground by activate channel 2 on transmitter for two seconds, the current capacity of this wire is 200 mA." I use this with a standard 12v relay that comes with the alarm. Is there anyway to make this release work faster? Maybe using a smaller relay or a solid state relay?

You cannot "speed up" the transmitter.

I know I can't speed up the transmitter, but I don't understand why when I push trunk release I can get a ground, but it takes a while for the relay to close.

Have you actually measured the output from the module and saw it went to ground quicker than it took the relay to close? It'd be pretty strange if that were the case, since the relay itself wouldn't add a delay unless you wired in a modified circuit.
Usually they set it up to need a longer press to prevent someone from accidentally hitting the button and popping the trunk, since you can't close it again remotely, like with a door lock. 10 seconds seems excessive though-
