I have a 1990 Honda accord EX with power locks and windows, no sunroof.  I already have an imobilizer installed by my local insurrance.  It was free, i didnt pay a dime for it.  I have had no problems with the imobilizer, and im looking for added security.  I have a VIPER 5000 (year 2005 module) sitting in its box, but i dont know how to set it up with the imobilizer.  Does anyone have a wiring schematic for this vehicle so i can have both items active?

Thanks muchly,

JS

There is no way they can be linked together, in Europe and Australia the alarms are called Cat I  amongst other differences they have built in immobilisers. When I install them I (with customer's knowledge) I remove existing non-factory immobilisers. Uk equivalents to youralarm wlould be Viper 460/80 or 500

yah howie is correct. the easiest thing is to remove the immobolizer and then just wire in a starter kill with the alarm.(therefore you still sorta have an immobolizer)

No can do, imobilizer has to stay in for me to keep the car insurred.  My car is a high risk auto, and for me to be able to drive it, i need that imobilizer.  Rules are strict here in canada so they made this rule, once installed, you cannot remove the imobilizer, if imobilizer has been removed and you have replaced it with something else, your car can be written off and a parts car, or your car can be impounded for as long as they see fit.  I have however cleared this up already, the only thing we need to leave out is the starter kill.  They cant turn on my car anyways without this tag that comes with the imobilizer.

where in canada do you live? I;m guessing BC cause I have never heard of insurance companies demanding that you have an immobilzer and I have lived in Ontario for 20 years and Alberta for a year and a bit. but if you have to have it then I'd say go talk to a shop and let them look at it to see if they can bypass it. since it is common that where you live you have to have immobilizers then the shops should know how to work around them. good luck with the search

Manitoba actually... MPI brought out a brutal policy that makes you put in an imobilizer if your car is a "high risk car".. .if you remove it, your done if you get caught.

Wow that is rediculous I pray that Ontario never adopts that. BUt like I said before go talk to some shops cause I can guarantee that you are not the only person who is having this problem so they should be able to help you out. Also god knows that you are not the only one in Manitoba(or Canada for that matter) who wants/has a remote starter in their car.

here is an idea send a message to Velocity Motors(aka Jeff) he has a shop in Manitoba so he should be familiar with the laws. He is also a Mod on here so he knows his stuff.

ok then nevermind I thought that you wanted a starter too. if you just want an alarm then all you need to do is hook up the alarm as if the immobilizer is not there. Because when you deactivate the alarm you then put the "key" in for the immobilizer. so they can exist completely separately since they will not interfere with eachother. I don;t know why i though you said that you wanted a starter. i have to read a bit better. but here is the wiring info
