I'm doing a remote start on a 96 Altima, and have found that when I stick the key in to turn to ignition ON after remote starting, the starter grinds (i'm not turning it to start, only to ignition on).  I was told I have to isolate the starter wire, these cars are different in that way.

Is this the same as isolating any other wire?  Do I do it just like this diagram?

http://www.directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1077.pdf

I already did the primary starter, isolated as the diagram shows, and still have problems.  I assume I have to isolate the cold start wire too?  Can I put both starter wires through one relay or does each have to be isolated individually?

Thanks.

Brian

I would check your wires. It sounds like two wires are reversed.

The Wires from the Keyswitch that was cut is the Wrong wire.

You need to find the wire that activates when the key is turned not the one that goes to the fuse panel.

Update:

90% sure I cut the right wire.  DEI's instructions fail to mention cold start wire must be isolated as well.  DEI's instructions also had the wrong color for the accesory wire - mistake after mistake.

Main start wire isn't cut, purple + trigger from 561R is directly connected.  Cold start had to be cut and wired up sort of like the diagram above, except 85 to ground and 86 to purple + trigger.

Kind of a tricky car.
