Looking to install an Encore E7 Remote Start/Alarm system on a 2002 Dodge Cummins, 8th Vin# C.
I have installed a system before but this one is way more high tech then my first one. Its a different vehicle though so wiring is different and I cant find anywhere that will just give you the colors of the wires and where they are at. Mostly looking for ignition wires and the wire for tach and wait to start lights.

From your supplied information, I'm guessing that you have a Dodge Ram pickup truck with the 5.9L
High Output Cummins turbo diesel engine.

Your truck might have a transponder based ignition immobilizer system. Check for Grey or Black ignition key.
Grey key = transponder. Black key = no transponder.
Your truck has a one-wire door lock system and the Encore E7 does not have built-in lock relays. You will
need extra relays ( and resistors ) or a DEI 451M door lock module to control the locks. However, if your
truck has the Gray key, might as well get a fully featured bypass module. The bypass module will take care
of the locks, alarm and supply a Tach signal.
If your truck has the Factory Alarm system, you will need another relay and resistor to handle that.
You will need an additional relay for the Accessory2 ignition wire.
Additionally, the Parking Light circuit might need a relay and a resistor if done inside the cab.
This will be a major change from your last install.   If you have the Black ignition key & Factory Alarm and
do it the direct way, you will need 5 relays with the correct value resistors. Plenty of good soldering time here....

I have a black key and no security system until now. The E7 came with a park light relay, why does it need a relay for ignition 2?
I was working on it tonight and have figured out most of it but now with you saying i need relays I will have to go in a redo that part of it.
Where are the resistors placed?

ok I am on the Audiovox site and it does not mention the relay and resistor for Ignition 2 it does for park light though. It says isolated ground w/320 ohm resistor.
Does this mean the relay is switching the ground side of park light circuit and the ground circuit its switching needs the resistor?
it also mentions wiring for Ignition 3 and Acc 2 but i dont think the E7 has ign 3 or acc 2

No transponder means less money and an easier install.
No Factory Alarm means one less connection / relay.
For the Parking Lights, here is the diagram from Bulldog security :

Other wire guides, like DEI, suggest a relay with isolation. Here is a note from them.
Parking lights require a negative trigger thru a 330 or 1.4K ohm resistor. There is a rest resistance on the
wire, so MUST use a relay to isolate away from the switch.
The E7's Parking Light relay is a simple SPST relay, so if you want to use just that relay, cut the E7's RED / White
input fuse wire ( after the fuse ), connect that to chassis ground. Next, add the correct resistor to the White output
wire and connect that to the Parking Light MUX wire listed. If you wish to use the Parking Light relay isolation
method, you will need an external relay.
For the Door Locks, here is the relay diagram :

Use the top diagram. A DEI 451M module is actually the two relays already pre-wired and a pack of assorted
resistors ( that have your needed values ). There is a 451M install guide in the downloads section.
As you noticed there are discrepancies between the wire guide listings. You will need to use your DMM to
actually test your trucks' ignition wires. If all you need is an extra ACC output...
For the ACC2 wire, you can not just connect the E7's one ACC output to both ACC wires in the truck. You could
try leaving the ACC2 wire unpowered and see what doesn't work during remote start, but that might give you
ABS check lights, etc. If you want to power ACC2 during a remote start, here is how to wire the relay :
Relay Pin 85 to E7 Blue/Black Accessory 2 output
Relay Pins 86 and 87 to +12V constant thru 20 Amp fuse
Relay Pin 30 to Dodge ACC2 wire @ ignition switch harness

ok thanks alot, i was wondering on the relays for door locks, but looks like the module might be easier?
I havent had time to work on it lately

Yes, the 451M is easier, neater and very compact. It also comes with a package of resistors that includes the more commonly needed resistor values so you won't have to make a trip to RadioShack and buy two 5 packs of resistors when you only need one of each.
