my girlfriend just got a 2003 saturn ion.  havent been able to find a wire harness that'll fit it so i just cut the factory harness.. i connect the wires and the deck will not turn on.. i'm confused

i cant find any information on the wire color diagram or what not..  anyone know the wire color/functions?

This is why you don't hack up factory wire harnesses, especially on a brand new car. I'd be pissed if someone did that to my car. Now you're in a mess.
The wire colors are probably the standard colors GM uses on its other cars; that shouldn't be too hard to find if you do a search here.
Then, of course, you'll have to use your meter and a small battery to test each wire for proper function.
Or you could get solder and shrink tubing, put the car back together like it was supposed to be, and buy the proper harness. But on GM cars, a couple of wires repeat themselves---you've got two yellows and two browns in there---so you're going to have to test everything now anyway.
