Have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe LS... Installing a Python 881XP Remote Start/ Car Alarm on my ride.  Can someone help me out with a few questions I've got?  Thanks in advance!

I have the remote starter all done.  Works great!  But I have some issues regarding the alarm and the lock/unlock of the system.   I bought the 457G data bus interface which is supposed to do all this for me, but I am having some trouble, or maybe the interface is faulty?  I don't know.  So...

1.  When I press the lock button on the keyfob, doors lock, but there's almost like a long or double pulse.  Is that normal?  In the programming, I set it to send a 0.8 second pulse, but it's much longer than that.  Also, same issue: when the doors lock, the parking lights flash TWICE. They should only flash ONCE.  What's wrong?  (Also, when I push the UNLOCK, the parking lights flash Three times, and they should flash Twice! What's wrong?)

2.  When the system is armed, after about 8 seconds, the system sets off, and the pager reads the zone that a DOOR TRIGGER set off the alarm.  But NO doors are open.  NOw here's what gets me... With the factory keyfob, when you lock the doors, it will not lock if ALL the doors are not shut.  If a door is open, it will chime twice to tell me so.  But with the Python remote Transmitter the doors lock, but it tells me a door is open???  Is that something to do with the programming?

3.  I don't like the idea of all the doors unlocking when I push Unlock.  Can I bypass the 457G (or remove it completely) and wire the system to act just like factory unlock (Where once does just the driver door, twice does all doors)???  Is there a way I can do that?

4.  ON the Python 881XP control module, there's a harness of about six wires (They refer to it as the H2 Harness or secondary harness).  Is this harness even necessary on a 2004 Tahoe?  Do I need this?  Is this harness part of my problem?  Perhaps if I bypass the 457G I need this harness, but As I have it now, is the harness needed?

The way I want this to work is unlock once, just the drivers door;   unlock twice, all doors.  Does the 881XP do this?  Also, what's the deal with the alarm setting off by the door trigger?

5.  Is there a way I can test the door trigger?  If there's a way I can wire this up (like some forums show four door trigger wires with diodes to do the job) so that it works properly, I will take out the 457G.  It seems like a waste of time, though.  If the 457G will work, and if there's a way I can get the unlock option the way I want, I'll keep it in.

6.  The wiring for the shock sensor provided is another question.  One end has the green wire looped and joined to the blue wire.  The other end just has the green wire with an open end.  Which end goes to the control module and which end to the sensor?  I know it's expandable for more sensors... But which end where? Also, is it worth adding a glass break sensor?  or will this sensor pick it up if the glass is broken by the vibration of the vehicle?

Thanks so much for any help!  Please get back to me ASAP as my vehicle is all torn apart, and I need to button it up soon, so I can drive it within the next day or two.  I've still got to have wheels!  I'm new here, so I don't know how soon the responses come back, but please let me know ASAP.  Anybody who can help?  Thanks again!!

Is the unit programmed to "never mind" the fact that the dome light is delayed when arming and locking? I dont know what thats called in the DEI world!

You NEED the 456G or the 457GW to do the locks. Without it youll need ALOT of relays and time!

Your door trigger.......where did you pick these up? They are in the doors, OK You need to diode isolate these wires to prevent falsing (like it seems is happening) To test your door trigger you need to close the latch on the door...the wire should go to 12v, then when you open the door, it will ground.

Grey/Blk in drivers door Blk/Wht in pass door  rear door are in the BCM Grn/Blk Blu/BLk in the purple plug....use em all with diodes

Thanks for the reply.

The 457 G interface has a wire for the negative door trigger input FROM the alarm.  I connected the green wire from the alarm (negative door trigger input) to the green wire on the 457G because that's what it says to do.  Then though the 457G, the data bus interface is supposed to tell the alarm when a door is open or not.  That's why I wondered if the 457G module is bad?  It's brand new, though.  They don't say anything about tapping into the door trigger wires, using the diodes, or any of that.  all they say is connect green to green, and you're done.

Here's a question:  How do I tell if the door trigger is bad?  I'll tell you how it works.  With all the doors shut, the dome lights fade off.  When I open a door (ANY door, I tested them all) then the dome lights go on.  When I close the door again, the dome lights go off!  That sounds to me like it's working right, doesn' it?  How do I know if the door trigger is bad?  I wonder if it had something to do with the programming??? When I programmed the 457G the drivers door was opened.  But I closed it and reprogrammed it, still with no change to the door trigger setting off the alarm.

One thing I also just noticed, when I push the lock button, that double chime DOES come out, telling me a door is open.  But the 457G locks the door twice (I guess) so it is as though I pushed the lock button twice, and it locks the doors anyway.  So, somehow a door trigger is saying "OPEN" to the system.  I don't know how.  Like i said, when I open any door, the dome lights come on, close the door and they go off.  How do I test the door triggers?

*** One stickler now... I just went to enter the programming mode (which consists of 1. open a door   2. turn the key to ON and then OFF   3.  Push the Valet/ Program button until the siren chirps..... )  But when I get to there, I hear no chirp.  It does not enter the programming mode any more.  What did I do?

Thanks for your help!

OK, I got it figured out on the door trigger.  But still a few questions... Anybody???

1.  When I push unlock, how do I make it unlock JUST the drivers door... and when I push Unlock twice do all the doors?

2.  How do I tap into the parking lights.  Ya, I know where the wires are for the parking lights, but here's what happens.  ON the alarm there is a setting to allow (+) positive or (-) pulses.  The tahoe wiring chart says the grey/black wire is the parking lights and its polarity is (-).  In the instructions it also says "If the current draw is more than 10 amps, you must use a relay..."   SO, HOW DO I WIRE THIS UP?  And what setting do I need to set the alarm to? Pos or Neg?

3.  Still the question, for ANYBODY who deals with any of DEI's alarms.  Why does all my doors unlock at the same time?  I want just the DRIVERs door and THEN the other doors at the second push of the button.

4. and last of all: again for any DEI specialist or installer... ANY DEI installer!!!  Why is the pulse so long when it locks or unlocks?  It's not set to 3.5 seconds.  It's set to .8 seconds.  But in my Tahoe, all it takes is like 0.2 seconds to activate it.  The pulse is so long, it's making my lock motors WINE!  What do I do to make the pulse not so long?

Thanks in advance.  Anybody, please help me.  I have my dash apart for 5 days now.  Trying to get this buttoned up so I can drive instead of ride with friends.  Thanks again!
