I have a 2004 Expedition and I need to tap into 12v under the dash so I can wire my radar detector and a blue firefighter strobe. There is an unused connector under the
steering column. The connector mold is made to accommodate 6 pins, but there are only 5 pins in it. Where can I get more info on this? I'd like to get a wiring diagram telling me
what each pin is for.
Also, is there a way to get the cigarrette lighter socket to turn off when the car is off.

hi,

if the connector is to the right of the steering column, i'm pretty sure it's for an electric trailer brake controller.  red is battery, white is ground, blue is contoller output (to trailer), light green brake switch input positive, and brown is parking lamps.  the fusebox is in the right kickpanel, should be able to find a few switched circuits in there.  i don't think ford has configureable lighter/power sockets, you'd have to rewire it.  hope this helps
