Hi,

I bought a Concept CM-701N 7" flip-down monitor to use as a rear view mirror in my van (with a rear view camera, of course). It came without a wiring diagram. There are 4 wires, 2 of which I already figured out. 1 is ground (black), 1 is dome light trigger (white). The other 2 seem to be interconnected. They are blue and yellow. Putting power to either allows the the unit to be powered up and it lets the dome lights work. The video screen goes black after about 10 seconds, no matter which wire is used for power. Does anyone have any experience with one of these units and can you help me figure it out? I have a few ideas.

One wire needs constant hot simply for the dome lights. The other wire reacts to whatever is on that wire. For example, if I try to use one for constant and the other for ignition, the ignition circuit gets powered-up from the hot wire. I thought of using a diode to stop that, but I haven't done that yet. I don't want to fry the unit....

It was cheap enough not to get too worried about it.....

SOLVED. I'm an idiot.

The fact that the unit had no shut-off switch should have been my first clue, but what can I say? It needs a constant video signal to stay powered up. Once I plugged in the camera, the unit worked as it is suposed to. The only problem is, I have to turn it on when I want a rear view mirror. I was hoping to have it power up automatically with the key..... Oh well, one thing at a time.....
