This should be read by anyone looking to bypass the built in security features on indash monitors.
I am not necessarily looking for response, though welcome, just thought people should read.

Sorry but I say bullsh*t. There is no way that is gonna fly. First off they cant prove that he was actually watching the movie, second off a lot of players have touch screen interface so if he was using the radio it would have to be open to change stations. The only leg they have to stand on is that he had the bypass installed but thats not illegal any where either. The preperation isnt illegal, just the act. Let tragities be just that, tragities, dont confuse them with some mascarade to get your and your legal partners name in the paper. Thats stuff makes me sick.

I read that same article and was debating on if to post it or not.

In some states it is against the law to have a TV installed in the front of a vehicle if the driver would be able to watch it.

But, the guy might have a little trouble or maybe something that was said may help him.  The passenger in the car with him said that he was going through the menu so he did not see in details what caused the wreck.  This can help the driver by backing his statement that he was not playing with the radio since his friend admitted that he was the one looking through the menu.  On the other hand the courts can say that he was interested in seeing what his friend was doing and be held liable.

My opinion is that this is a bunch of BS.  With all of the new gadgets in cars everyone is going to be going to jail when an accident happens involving a death.  New cars are coming with Navigation systems.  Does this mean if it's snowing you hit black ice skid out of control and kill someone your were looking at your navigation system for directions just because that was the first thing the cops saw when they turned your ignition key.

The point was that he is/was going to be charged with second degree murder, regardless of whether or not he was watching the dvd, also the legal precedence of this case can be harsh. I also pointed the fact out in another forum that just because the screen is open doesn't mean he was watching the dvd.

My girlfriend and I take many road trips and she loves the DVD player I installed - totally autonomous from the car's system.....the screen is inside the glovebox which serves 3 purposes....1.I CAN'T see it if I wanted to;  2.it shades the screen for daytime viewing; and 3.what you can't see and don't know is there, you don't want to steal. She can either use the 2 smaller speakers on the monitor's front or 99% of the time....use headphones to get the full sound in excellent quality. If I want to watch a movie....I'll stay home.

Yeah....and to make it REALLY cool, you could paint the windshield and all the windows over the same color as the car....talk about Euro! Then make a panoramic layout of screens inside with exterior cameras. Make then night vision capable....who needs headlights?

And if you were really drunk enough, shave all the handles and weld the doors shut for a completely smooth finish. Have a remote sunroof to crawl through like an Apollo hatch........

Wonder how the tint-police would handle that? Ahhhh....to dream....

Subtlety is EVERYTHING.
