I guess things are getting better in our part of the world.  Not because sales have gone up, but because our government says so.  And their helping the small businessman too.

First they raised hydro rates by 25% (to get closer to US price for NAFTA)

Next we get a envoirmental charge of $2.85 for for any aftermarket device, audio/video/image that we sell.

Then all our costs will go up by 8% due to change to HST tax structure.

All this in a three month period, can't wait to see how they help us next.  I missed the meeting that said more money was comming in the door.

A couple of years ago I said that 2009 was not the big crash or recession - that was coming in 2010.
Since then however I have not cared.
It should still happen based on my track record, however a big complication has been Australia's response which was to provide money (incentives) to the people, not bail-outs to the companies etc.
Hence many now understand that recession is a state of mind an not a state of reality per se. But whether that is big and strong enough to delay or even prevent the big crash - I don't know.
Nor do I care. If not now(ish), then maybe in another (15 or) 30 years... (But that excludes the impacts of climate change LOL!)
Caveat - the opinions expressed above.....
PS - this has much in common with my other reply re quality. It's all economics you know. It has little to do with standard of living.

Recession! I hope that's what we refer to this as in our history books. That word inspires hope of a time based "temporary" period. Im finding it difficult to ignore speculation that life as we so foolishly took advantage of, or became accustom to, may never return to the state in which we so eagerly took for granted...
This is what I do for FUN!

LOL!
Recessions will be historical - the same way "depression" is an historical economic event.
I recall the Rome blaming the Christian faith....
