I was wondering how the rest of you store owners and managers price you installations.  Is by the hour or a set price for each individual thing?

Thanks

I have a set price for each service. Like speaker installation,I charge $35.00 to install a set of coaxial speakers. If some one had an alarm and wanted a "custom" function hooked up(like window roll up/down)then I would charge them based on how long I thought the job would take me, about 25 to 35 dollars an hour is the going rate where I live.      Brian

My shop has a set price for each type of job.  We also have "custom work" rates by the hour as well.  We also have "installed prices"--one price for the equipment and install---such as alarm/rem start, head unit, etc.  One thing that we do is that we charge a little more if the customer provides his own equipment, since we dont know if it works, how to install, etc...

$40 per head unit, $50-75 for amp, $25-35 for speakers, $30/hr for troubleshooting and unconventional labor, $5 to bench check equip. All prices are seperate of installation accessories. Most other shops in the area charge similarly.
