Having a problem with alternators on this vehicle. 3 times replaced. They seem to work for a few months, then have problems keeping the battery charged. First replacement, installed new battery with alternator, got wrong battery, was for chevy. The terminals were reversed on the battery, and I hooked up the battery backwards for a few seconds. Did this do something to the computer ?

If your truck has an external voltage regulator try to replace it and see what happens.
