i'm new to the forum but i've been reading through posts since i found the site a short while ago.

i have a 2001 honda accord and a problem to go with it. the car originally came with a double DIN sized head unit (HU) and has since been banished from my dashboard. i installed an alpine mp3 player last year and now i'd like to install a second HU (it's a pull-out) since i have the space available. to install the alpine i drilled new holes  in the factory brackets on each side so the alpine would sit in the center of the double DIN opening. now that i want to install a second head unit, i'm lost. those factory brackets aren't large enough for me to screw two HU's in them since they were meant to screw into the factory HU in the middle. the metra and scosche kits are no use to me because they both leave me with a DIN slot in the upper opening but only 3/4 DIN sized opening on the bottom. i'm pretty handy with tools but i don't know where to begin.

I would make one out of ABS plastic or for one out of fiberglass then paint it to look good.

yup either ABS one, or see if Metra or similar offers a kit for that.
I used ABS to fab a plate for an Alpine EQ not too long ago for my Jeep.
came out like this if ya want an idea for how it'd look in yours:

Schoshe makes a kit for a double din unit or stacked double din. It works pretty well. I made an abs kit for it a while ago but it looks a bit tacky because there is barely any room to have on the edges  and it flexes a bit depending on the unit. The kit is the best way to go. It fits nicely and looks good.
