Has anyone wired a 2004 Nissan Quest for towing a trailer? Nissan does not offer a towing package but the hitch and wiring harness is available on the after-market. When the wiring was installed on my vehicle everything on my trailer worked fine except for the turn signals. When tried they clicked in the vehicle once or twice and then stopped. I have a travel trailer and two small utility trailers, and the results are the same on all three. It would seem I need a heavier duty flasher, but Nissan says they do not make one. Also, when I took my vehicle back to the people who did the wiring (U-Haul), they hooked it up to one of their small trailers and everything worked fine.

Demont,

I am having the same issue.  2004 Quest Uhaul hitch and wiring.  Turn signals only blink once on my brand new trailer, which works on my other car.  Went back to Uhaul and lights works on there trailer. The difference I noticed is the Uhaul trailer have LED tail lights which draw less power than a trailer with light bulbs.

Uhaul rep said to come back with my trailer and they'll look at it.  He also said on some newer cars with computer controlled directionals that we might need a bigger fuse for the amperage draw. I'll let you know how I make out.

Demont,

After talking to a few people in Nissan and another Trailer hitch installer.  They told me for the new 2004 Quest we really need a Powered Trailer light convertor.

I went and purchased one today from the autoparts store, mostly because U-Haul was too far away to drive back too, and I put it in myself, for the 12V source I taped into the rear Cigarette lighter.  All is well now.

Good Luck.

Bill
