I am having all kinds of trouble with my 2001 Ford Excursion 4x4 Diesel.  The trouble I am having with the amp is that I am running an  Alpine MRV-1005 V12 Expert amp from a factory head unit (cant afford the new head unit I want yet).  The 600 watt amp is getting good power and a good ground (i know this because I even ran a ground wire from the amp all the way back to the battery and still didnt work).  My power is good, ground is good, and remote is turning it on.  But, the amp will not work.  Although occasionally when I turn my key to the acc. position the amp will kick on and work great, until I start the truck then I get nothing again.  I can put the amp in my buddies car and it works great, just not in mine.  Another question.  I am using a line out converter to run RCA cables, but I was just wondering should my amp turn on and off with the radio?  I noticed when I turn my radio off the amp stays on until I turn the key completely off.  I thought the point of a remote wire was to turn the amp on and off with the radio. please correct me if I am wrong.  Well thanks for the help in advance.  Peace and humptiness forever.

Where is the amp remote turn on wired into the factory radio. IF it is wired to the remote turn on off the factory radio many times there is not enuff voltage to wake up the amplifier, very common in ford vehicles. Soundgate makes an interface that will boost the voltage to a 12 volt input into the amp. I have used them a couple of times and they work great. Is the amp coming on but you are not getting any audio out of the amp, what kind of LOC are you using to pipe the audio into the amp.(hopefully a high quality one and not walmart or radio shack crap)!!!!

The LOC is a Rockford Fosgate brand. I went ahead and had the shop install it, bt I am not sure if they did it correctly. The remote turn on wire is connected to the BLACK/ Pink wire that connects into the radio harness. Just to check teh amp could I just jump the 12 volt over to the remote wire jsut to see if it kicks on? Or would that give it too much power at the remote and screw something up? By the way Where do I get one of those Soudgate Interfaces? Thanks again guys I appreciate the help.

Yes you can jump the wire like you are suggesting. The ignition line to the factory deck is in fact the black / pink wire, should be fine there. Ensure that the wire that was run as the remote on wire from the amp is not grounding out on anything. Jump that wire and see what happens. Post up the results.

I tried the idea of jumping the power wire over to the remote turn on.  It blew my 5amp "Lamp Switch, Led/Radio" fuse.  Seriously this is starting to make me mad.  Apparently I am going to HAVE to get a new head unit or something.  Any more help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again guys.
