In order to remote start an auto-trans car, is it  mandatory to hook up the parking brake sensing wire.

Yes, this wire is looking for ground when the brake pedal is not pressed and will not start if ground is not present. It's a desireable feature to install and will cause the remote start to stop when someone presses the brake pedal (as you would when attempting to put it in gear).

Bah, my bad, I read brake and not parking brake. This wire also is looking for ground and is a good idea as well to incorporate. You didn't mention which unit you are installing and depending on the unit, it may or may not be mandatory for it to start.

I mean parking brake.

I am installing a compustar 2wss-as in Jeep Liberty 2003 automatic. I know the brake pedal sensing is a must but what about the parking brake since I have an auto-trans.
