Hello. I'm new to the board and new to car stereo's and wanted to start my stereo system off with a nice head unit.  I have a 1997 Honda Passport with a factory 12 disc cd changer located in the back which is hooked up to the factory radio/casette player and the controls are on that..... What I was wondering is if a aftermarket head unit can be hooked up with my factory cd changer?(like will the plugs correspond or is it possible for the installers to like connect wires to make it possible, or something?)

Thanks for any information you may have!

Dustin!

Hi Dustin, Peripheral makes interfaces that will alow you to use your factory changer with an aftermarket head unit. http://peripheralelectronics.com/periph_products/cd_changer_autos/acura_honda.htm

Wow Thanks for the quick response!  Just one more thing, I would probably get this done somewhere(as im not electrical at all) would a store like best buy or circuit city be able to figure out how to make it compatible by using the interface or would they just say its not possible?  and is it really that specific?(the only one that would work is from my cd changer to an ALPINE cd player/radio.. all other companies wouldn't work)?

thanks

dustin

Hi Dustin, you're welcome. I can't answer for Best Buys or Circuit City, but ask them. Even if they don't stock the Peripheral interface, you should be able to find it online and their installers should be able to handle the install.
