Does anybody know how to manually get the dash lights circuit going?  I recently installed an aftermarket stereo, and now the dash lights are out.  There is a circuit that used to go through the factory stereo.  I did get the OEM wiring diagram, but am still unable to figure this out.

I have installed numerous radios into 1993 altimas and I have never seen or heard of the dash lights running through the OEM radio.  Check your fuses and check to see what you have conneceted the factory illumination wire to.  Illumination tends to cause nothing but problems and I would recommend against using it for aftermarket applications.

The illumination is free, not hooked up to anything.  This is what I found out so far:

1)  Illumination wire lights dash when connected to power wire.  It is not hooked up right now.

2)  Another wire lights exterior lights (parking lights?) when connected to power wire.  It is also not hooked up.

3)  There is an illumination wire from the new reciever free , not hooked up to anything yet.

My knowledge isn't great on this, but I have tried multiple combinations with these three wires and nothing so far.  Mabey I did a wrong step, but I thought I'd consult here before I tried again.

illumination on the aftermarket is an input, not an output, so connecting it wont do anything to solve your dash light problem - if your fuses are good, this seems indicative of a bigger problem with the vehicle

have you pulled out your dimmer switch yet? I bet you there is a burnt trace on the board if you open it up. did you use a harness when you installed your stereo, or did you hardwire it?

No, what do you mean by "pull dimmer switch"?    And yes I did hardwire it (couldn't wait).
