Hi everybody

I have a 2001 Malibu V6 and I want to install OEM cruise control by swapping the steering wheel.

What other parts should I look for in the junkyard? and what is the installation procedure?

Should I change the ECM or BCM?

I saw an old topic about a drive-by-wire system which makes installing the cruise control easier, does the Malibu have this system?

Any help about would be greatly appreciated, since I am not an expert in these issues and I will let a specialist do it.

Thanks

You would require the steering wheel, switches, a new air-bag coil, the cruise main unit with it's throttle cable and both a dash harness and engine harness to get the wires and connectors to make it all work. Do yourself a favour and forget that idea. Buy a Rostra cruise control and use one of their steering wheel mounted cruise controls swithes. They work, give a warranty and won't cause any grief to install.
