Hello, I bought a a JL Audio VR component system. I want to fiberglass them into my side door panels of my 1991 cheverolet cavalier z24. I was wondering if I should make the a sealed enclosure or not. If I make it a sealed enclosure how much airspace do I need. I looked in the manual and there is no information on how much airspace is needed. Thanks for your time.

Component speakers do not need to be in an enclosure, enclosures are normally for subs because the airspace so dramatically affects the bass, but with midrange thats not an issu, nor is it an issue with tweeters

wouldn't the midrange be louder if I had it in a sealed enclosure? I've read that people use a dynamat product  so you don't lose the sound coming from the back of the speaker, wouldn't the enclosure be the same effect? The thing I'm wondering is how much air space would I make it have?

i don't now if it would be louder if it was sealed or not,but i'm using the jl vr's in a custom made kick panels open backed and they are kick a#$ they are loud and unbelievebly crystal clear but then again jl is one of the best in sound repoduction(my opinion) so my advice is don't waste your time and energy building a sealed enclosure they perform excellent normally installed. good luck!!!!
